As Finance Officer you will implement financial management standards effectively within the assigned programs and projects. This involves ensuring that all financial and administrative processes at the project location are both auditable and efficient, contributing to the project’s overall success.

Your specific goals include:

  • Ensuring the financial administration of the project complies with Welthungerhilfe and donor standards.
  • Supporting the Head of the Project in carrying out their supervisory responsibilities.
  • Guiding partner organizations on financial management, ensuring they meet their contractual obligations and maintain auditable records.

 

 

Your responsibilities

 

  • Preparation of month end financial status reports & checklists for approval by Head of Project
  • Support monthly budget monitoring and updating project income & expenditure plans
  • With Support from country office , lead in project internal / external audits,  spot checks and micro assessments.
  • Timely preparation of project financial reports ,following donor rules and regulations
  • Support in proposal development for various donors, particularly focusing on budget preparation and setting up projects in the accounting software
  • Ensure timely payment of salaries & statutory deductions and booking in the accounting software
  • Monitor partner compliance with financial reporting requirements ,and timely reconciliations before expenditures are booked in the accounting software
  • Support partner capacity assessments ,and preparation of partnership agreements
  • Reviewing payment requests for completeness and compliance with internal regulations before payments are booked , including cost sharing for salaries and running costs
  • Ensure that vouchers for each month are properly filed & timely scanned into the accounting software

 

Your profile

 

  • A university or college degree in business administration, finance or economics
  • At least 3 to 5 years experience in financial project administration in the region
  • Coordination, organization, and good negotiation skill as well as intercultural competence
  • Experience in managing projects funded by various donors (AA ,OCHA ,UNICEF, UNHCR ,EU ,ECHO ,GIZ ,BMZ ,WFP ,USAID)
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English, Arabic language skills are an asset
